It used to be easy to track when the summer and winter Olympics were held in the same year. Now that they’re holding it two years apart from each other, it’s become confusing…
Like this year is the year for the summer Olympics. I guess it’s the year that coincides with leap year. But I’m more interested in the winter Olympics, so my focus is on 2010. Sometimes I wonder if leap year is 2008 or 2010…hmmm
Thank goodness my birthday is not on Feb. 29…

I have a friend who was born on Feb. 29, but officially his birthday is on the 28th.
Getting birthday presents only once every 4 years is bad, but legally speaking it is cause for major headaches …

うるう年って、leap yearっていうんですね〜〜。とってもおもしろいですね〜〜。そう、うるう年とオリンピックの年は同じなんですよね！周期が一緒なので、ずれることはありません 
今年は北京ですが、どうなることやら…

小学生の時、よくFebruaryを間違った！後forty/fourtyもよく失敗した。(The correct spelling is “forty” by the way)

Ｌｅａｐと言えば・・・時をかける少女っていう映画が何年か前にあって、The girl leaped through timeっていうタイトルだったような気が・・・Ｌｅａｐっていろんな意味で使える単語みたいですね、蛙が跳ぶとかでも使えますよね？

日本語が弱いので、言ったことをちゃんと理解できたことを望みます。「leap」は「jump」のようですが、もうちょっとアクション的で突然な感じがあるんです。そして蛙の跳びに関していつも使います。
He leapt over the wall.
彼は壁を跳び越えた。
She leapt in front of the train.
彼女は電車の前に飛び出した。
The dog leapt up at the man.
犬は男に飛び上がった。
The frog leapt into the pond.
蛙は池に跳んだ。
The terminator leapt back through time to kill John Connor.
ターミネータはジョンコナーを殺すのために時間を前にかけた。
When she saw the e-mail, she leapt to the conclusion that her husband was cheating.
彼女はメールを見た時に夫が浮気していると言う結論に飛びついた。

I remember as a child, I thought it was weird that the summer and winter and Olympics are held in different years.
I do remember that you like winter sports! I grew up in places that never snowed…. so it is something I have to get into.

Eek…. Technically speaking, he can’t enter clubs/bars yet, I suppose. But on the positive side, at age 80, he can claim that he is in his early 20’s.

北京オリンピック、楽しみですね。最近北京に行った友達が、「あそこらへんは工事が盛んで、数年前とまったく変わっていた」とぼやいていました。後、もう少しで開催されますね。

That is totally understandable. Feb-ru-ary. I had difficulties with “disappointing” and “disappear” as a child.

へー、英語のタイトルはそうだったんですか～。「時をかける少女」は何回も映画化されて、日本人は本当に好きな作品ですよね。
Leapはカエルとか、Javizyさんが説明したように、「ピョンと飛ぶ」と言いたい時に使えます。ちなみに”leapfrog”は「馬とび」という意味です。
