海外で買い物をしていて、洋服を試着したいけれど聞き方が分からず、分からないまま勘で服を買ったら結局サイズが合わなかった、なんていう経験はありませんか？今日のレッスンで出てくるフレーズを覚えることが出来れば、どこに行ってもスムーズに試着をすることが出来ます。

In a restaurant, I asked for my bill to the waitress.
But she misheard and served me “beer”. I thought that was free but it’s not….I paid for the beer…

“May I try this on?” は海外旅行に行くと必須のフレーズですね。違う色やサイズを頼みたい場合も多いので、とっても役に立ちました！
ところで、“May I try this on?” は“May I try on this?”でもいいですよ、とのことだったのですが、 、this や it を使う場合は必ず“May I try this(it) on?” と言い、“May I try on this?” はダメだと学校で習ったのですが、
実際はどちらでもよいのですか？？

hogemaru-san> 結論を言うと、どちらでもいいです。“May I try on this?” の場合のtryは他動詞です。this/thatは目的語ですね。ですのでonは副詞です。どちらかとういうと“May I try this on?”の方を学校では習いますが、“May I try on this?”でも大丈夫です
