When you walk into the doctor’s office, you tell the receptionist in English that you are having sharp pains in your neck, and you are dying to get this appointment with so you can get back to work. After you sit, you hear the nurse call every other patient’s name but yours in English. After waiting a while longer, you check in with the receptionist by asking in English, “You do have me on your list of appointments, right?” The receptionist tells you in English, “Yes…it will just be a few more minutes.” You are not very good at waiting, even though the doctor’s office has plenty of English magazines for you to read.
